Looking for Alaska: The End

In the last  part of the book nothing to interesting happens more than the guys investigating about Alaska's death. They get drunk to see what level did she get to, go to liquor stores and even talked to Jake. They even planned a prank during some speeches that are done in spring. Pudge convinced his dad to pretend that he is a Psychologist from a University in Florida that is going to give a speech about sexuality. He would start giving his speech and then Lara stood up and screamed that he was hot and that he should take off his clothes. At first he refused but then he did as asked. Everyone was laughing and talking. The Eagle got angry and sent the teacher back home and everyone was still laughing for a long time. After some time passed after the prank, Takumi discovered something about Alaska's death. That she died the same day that her mother did and probably she was going to the graveyard to take her the white flowers because it was the day of her death. She took the white flowers because her mother used to love them. Alaska was supposedly to busy thinking about how she had forgotten about this special date that she didn't see the police car and she crashed it. 

" He was quiet for a long time, and I looked down at Alaska's last daisy and waited for him to ask what the prank was, and I would have told him, but I just heard him breathe slowly into the phone, and then he said, "I won't even ask. Hmm." He sighed. "Swear to God you'll never tell your mother.""

When I read this passage I just couldn't believe it. Mile's father was simply really impressive on how he was fine in helping him in doing a prank. My father would've said no and probably would've grounded me for trying to set up a prank. 

" 'Okay. She's sleeping. Jake calls, and she talks to him, and she is doodling, and she looks at her white flower, and 'Oh God my mom liked white flowers and put them in my hair when I was little,' and then she flips out. She comes back into her room and starts screaming are us that she forgot-forgot about her mom, of course-so she takes the flowers, drives off campus, on her way to-what?' He looked at me. 'What? Her mom's grave.'"

I was actually pretty happy when i reached this part. The reason is that they finally solved the mystery of Alaska. I was happy to know that she didn't commit suicide and that she was only trying t do a nice acto for her mother. She was a good girl after all.

I think that this book was pretty awesome. It had some really inappropriate parts but in overall it was pretty good. I didn't love it as i did with "Paper Towns" or "The Fault in our Stars" but I did like it. In a score from one to ten, I would give it a 8.5 because I think that it could've been better by not making Alaska die. 

Looking for Alaska: The Tragedy

Alaska, Pudge, Lara, Colonel and Takumi decide to prank the Eagle. What they did was distract him with firecrackers and take him into the woods and meanwhile, Alaska and Colonel hacked into a teachers computer and sent emails to certain parents that their kids were failing. When they were done, they all went back to a barn which was their harbourage and Pudge and Lara kissed. Then they just spent the whole time drinking and smoking in school, and attending to classes. One night, Alaska, Colonel and Pudge were drunk in their room and Alaska dared Pudge to make out with her and he agreed. After quite a time of that, the phone rang and Alaska freaked out and said that she needed to get out of there. So Colonel and Pudge distracted the Eagle with some leftover firecrackers while she escaped. The next morning the Eagle went to Colonel and Pudge's room and told them to go to the gym immediately. The Eagle told everyone a really bad news, Alaska has died. Colonel was shocked just like Pudge and they couldn't believe it. Colonel started crying and blaming himself whi
le Pudge felt the urge to throw up.  They were both devastated. After a week or so went by, Colonel started wondering how and why did she die. So they both started making an investigation to find out why this had happened.

"The Eagle looked down and bit his lower lip. 'Last night, Alaska Young was in a terrible accident,' His tears came faster, then. 'And she was killed. Alaska has passed away.'" 

When I read this passage I was extremely shocked. I just couldn't believe it, that Alaska died. I was really really sad and for a moment I wanted to stop reading the book since Alaska is my favourite character. For a moment I thought the same that Pudge thought which was that it wasn't true and it was only a prank but then I realised it wasn't and I was devastated.

"I let go of his hand, grabbed last year's yearbook, and found her picture. In the black-and-white photograph, she's wearing her orange tank top and cutoff jeans that stretch halfway down her skinny tighs, her mouth open wide in a frozen laugh as her left arm holds Takumi in a headlock. Her hair falls over her face just enough to obscure her cheeks." 

I think that watching the pictures of a person that has passed away is the worst thing to do. When a person dies, yes it is nice to remember him/her, but when you see their picture you are only putting yourself through more pain and suffering. You start making your life more miserable little by little and in the end you are extremely sad.

I think that this part of the book is definitely the worst part until now and I don't think that there will be another one.  I don't have much more interest in finishing the book since it wont make any sense to me. Technically the staring character dies and the whole story is ruined. I just want to keep reading in order to see if the guys are able to solve the mystery.

Alaska, Alaska, Alaska.

Pudge met a girl named Lara, she was Russian, and they met in Alaska's car going to McDonald's. Lara really liked him, so, Alaska said that they should all go in a triple date and a half with Pudge and Lara, Alaska and Jake, The Colonel and Sara and Takumi. The night of the date, Pudge got hit by a basketball and he got a concussion. While he was in the hospital, The Colonel and Sara broke up and Alaska got mad at him. Pudge also discovered that Alaska was the one who tattle-tailed to the Eagle about Marya. The week-day warriors pranked Alaska by flooding her whole room. Thanksgiving came up and Alaska asked Pudge to stay with her because she didn't want to go home and he agreed. Since they were alone in the school, they smoked and drank a lot. One day the Colonel appeared and told them that his mom couldn't let them eat in thanksgiving by themselves so she invited them over and they ate dinner together. Pudge started falling madly in love with Alaska little by little. 

"Cornbread!" he screamed.

"Chicken!" the crowd responded.

"Rice!"

"Peas!"

And then, all together: "WE GOT HIGHER SATs."

"Hip Hip Hip Hooray!" the Colonel cried.

"YOULL BE WORKIN' FOR US SOMEDAY!"

When I read this fragment of the book I was incredibly impressed that people could be so mean! I can relate that people in this world can be the worst or the best. We can be mean and no matter to who, they can be blind or deaf and still we keep doing it. I think that it is wrong because we don't know what they feel and if they like it or not. 

"And then on my seventh birthday, my present was that I got to pick my name. Cool, huh? So I spent the whole day looking at my dad's globe for a really cool name. And so my first choice was Chad, like the country in Africa. But then my dad said that was a boy's name, so I picked Alaska."

I think that it is pretty cool and wrong at the same time to let your kid pick their own name. Cool because they have the liberty to choose something they like. Also because they can be liberal and imaginative with choosing. At the same time it is wrong because you are letting a seven year-old pick their name for their rest of their lives and they can regret it. For example a little girl could decide to be called Barbie or Cinderella and then when they grow older they wont like it anymore. 

Until now, this book is pretty awesome. I think that it has really good content and I simply love how John Green writes. He always gets the best of ideas for stories and all of his books that I've read so far are great. I hope that I can add this one up to my collection of my favourite books.
