New Book, Looking for Alaska by John Green!

I've started reading this new book by John Green and it is simply amazing until now! This book's first chapters are about this 16 year-old guy that is going to a new overnight school. His name is Miles, but the nickname he got when we went in his dorm was Pudge. His room mate was Chip, but everyone called him the Colonel. There is also this pretty awesome girl called Alaska and Pudge likes her. On the first night he got there, he got thrown into the lake, but not as the usual ritual, instead they duct-taped him from shoulders to feet and threw him in the lake. It was really hard for him to swim all the way to the shore, but he made it, he remembered that before they threw him in the water, the guys told him to stay away from the Colonel or he could regret it. When he came out he went in the building where his room was but first he went to Alaska's since they were already friends, but she kicked him out immediately. He was really sad and he told the Colonel everything that had happened. He got really angry and decided to start searching who were the ones that did that. During class time, they would draw the desks and make a checkmark on the one that someone suspicious was sitting. The Colonel had a girlfriend called Sara, they had a really troubled relationship, they both fought a lot and treated each other horribly. Sara called the Colonel and told him that he was a rat because he uncovered the secret of Paul and Marya, who were kicked out of school for violating some codes.

Image result for couple fighting" A minute later, three words made their way to our room through the thick, still air of Alabama at almost-night. "Screw you too!""

I was a little impressed on how a person could tell her/his boyfriend/girlfriend that terrible thing and still be together. I personally think that talking things out is the best way to amend things in a relationship, but not by fighting all the time.

"With my arms flat against my sides like a soldier at attention, they mumified me from my shoulder to my wrist...taped my legs together from ankles to thighs...then they picked me up and hurled me into the water."

I think that it is pretty amazing that no one does anything about somebody duct-taping a person and then throwing him/her into the water, he/she could drown and it is really dangerous. How come do the teachers or the principle don't know about this!

Even though I haven't read much of the book until now, it is awesome. That is something that I love about John Green's books, they start awesome and end amazing. His books are not like others that start borring and keep being borring until the problem comes.

Patron Saint of Pigs: Angels and Love

The day for picking up the pig came and Addie had to go to work which was perfect paces the pet store was just across the street from Starbucks (that is where Addie works). The time came for picking up the pig and she totally forgot about it because she got caught in a situation, but an hour or so passed and she remembered and she was really mad at herself. When she got to the pet store, the guy who was in charge was the person who hated her the most, and it was a huge problem. He accidentally gave the little pig, which had a note in its cage, in adoption and Addie was bummed. She couldn't believe it and she was really stressed, so she stole the credit card receipt and went to look for the woman who adopted the pig. It turns out that the woman was an elderly who constantly went to Starbucks, her name was Mayzie, and  she got the oil because she was helping Addie be a better person since Addie only thought about herself. Mays was part of a weird how to be an Angel. When she got the pig, Addie's friend went to pick it up and was super happy about it. When she got out of the door, Jeb came in and told Addie tat he missed her a lot and that he couldn't answer any texts because he was trapped in the train and the storm and the waffle house with cheerleaders. Then they kissed for a long time.

"Adeline, you make things so much harder for yourself than you have to, -she said.- Silly girl, it's not what the universe gives us that matters. It's what we give the universe."
(Myracle, 337)

I like this passage a lot because it is a very good teaching and I think it is beautiful. This is something that every person in earth should grow in to and stat acting that way. There is another teaching that I like which is, "It is not happy people who are grateful, it is grateful people who are happy" and the passage that I found in the book made me remember this quote that my mom always tells my sisters. It is something good that everyone should learn in life.

"Then I realised what he meant. He was responding to my e-mail, the part where I said, If you want me, I'm yours. My cheeks stayed warm, and I was glad no one in the store had ESP, because that was a classically self-absorbed misinterpretation. But even if they did have ESP-and how would I know anyway?-it was certainly no crisis. "
(Myracle, 352)

When i read this passage, I thought it was so beautiful and romantic.  I also thought that the whole gesture he made was so adorable and cute because he went through a lot to get there and the Addie how he felt about her.

These last chapters were the best chapters in the entire book because all of the stories connected and it all made completely sense. I loved this book, and even if it was three different stories, by three different authors, it was a lot of fun. I have always loved John Green, but know I like Lauren Myracle and Maureen Johnson as well. I enjoyed reading this book a lot and it was really interesting. It was really well written and all of the stories end with a kiss and they are all so romantic.

The Patron Saint of Pigs: I am Miserable

The Patron Saint of Pigs by Lauren Myracle is a really beautiful love story.  I thought it was really interesting because lots of teen girls could probably relate to some of the parts of the story. The story was about this girl called Addie who just broke up with her boyfriend called Jeb ( he was trapped in the train trapped with Jubilee in the snow storm) because she kissed another guy called Charlie, which really liked Addie. She was super sad and the day that they broke up she dyed her hair pink and cut it pretty small. She spent most of the afternoon having lots of flashbacks when she saw Jeb's pictures. She was hurting a lot so her friends came by and they got in a big fight but they forgave each other and then Addie promised her friend to pick up her tea-cup sized pig in the pet store. It was perfect because Addie had to go to work in Starbucks right the next day, and the pet store was just across the street. She promised her friend that she would do it, so she put a post it note that said that she needed to pick up the pig and she pasted it inner uniform for that day.

"Being me sucked. Being me on this supposedly gorgeous night, with the supposedly gorgeous snow looming in five-foot drifts outside my bedroom window, double-sucked. Add the fact that today was Christmas, and my score was up to triple-suck. And add in the sad, aching, devastating lack of Jeb, and ding-ding-ding! The bell up the Suckle Meter couldn't ring any louder."
(Myracle, 215)

This quote was impressive because I never thought that someone could be so negative about something and call them suckers a whole bunch of times. Also because in Christmas nothing matters and everything is happy and merry even if something bad happened. I can't believe that someone couldn't be happy in Christmas, because it is the season of happiness and joy. I have always thought that negativism is something bad and that positivism is something really important in order for you to enjoy life correctly.

"Charlie pushed for details, charming and sympathetic, and when I got teary, he moved in close to comfort me. I protested, but he pressed his mouth to mine, and eventually I submitted. A guy as paying me all sorts of attention-a really cute and charismatic guy-and who cared that he didn't mean it?"
(Myracle, 232)

My response to this quote, is that Addie only shouldn't think about that when she is cheating on her boyfriend. She is betraying someone and what she is thinking is that she likes getting attention and that is really wrong. She shouldn't be suffering so much if she was the one who did something wrong and she was the one who hurt Jeb not the other way around. The only reason that she has to be mad and sad is because she hurt someone badly but then she shouldn't be crying about wanting Jeb to come back.

Overall these first eight chapters have been really slow because the only thing they were about was Addie and her flashbacks to the times in which Jeb and her were together. She explained how sad she was and what she did after and before their breakup. The only thing that happened that didn't have anything to do with Jeb was Gabriel, the little teacup pig that Addie had to pick up the next day across Starbucks. Even though these chapters  were slow, they were actually interesting.
